Junior Packaging Developer

Lir Chocolates, Navan, County Meath

 

We’re seeking a highly organised individual with strong admin experience and a real passion for packaging development to support and assist with packaging to meet development requirements.

 

Position type: Permanent Full-Time 

Hours: 37.5

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 16:30

Breaks: 1 hour unpaid

 

Closing Date: Friday 13th February 2026

Responsibilities

  • Support Private Label (PL) packaging projects by liaising with suppliers, attending first productions, and learning how to test and validate new materials.
  • Assist with creating and updating packaging specifications, including PL packing specs (palletisation, barcodes, instructions, photos, BOM updates) and helping maintain supplier component specifications.
  • Help coordinate transit trials, ensuring chocolates and packaging are ready, confirming trial timings, organising shipments, keeping documentation up to date, and following up with suppliers when actions are required.
  • Provide administrative support for packaging data, such as preparing spec approvals, updating supplier quotes into costings files, maintaining technical information, and supporting palletisation development using software tools.
  • Assist with sample management and logistics, including preparing DHL shipments, PR samples, Brandbank samples, sales sample requests and responding to last‑minute needs across NPD, Sales and Marketing.
  • Support general admin tasks, including preparing and sending the weekly Ops report to the NPD Director, following up on supplier actions, and providing holiday cover for the Packaging Technologist and Packaging Development Manager.

Qualifications

  • Packaging experience preferred, with a genuine interest in developing into a packaging specialist.
  • Strong administrative, organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent communication, proactive mindset and strong attention to detail.
  • Confident using MS Office and databases.
  • Reliable, trustworthy and able to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Good problem‑solving and decision‑making ability.

We have three advanced production lines across two buildings, specialising in high-precision chocolate technologies such as panning, one-shot depositing, spinning, spraying, and decorative transfers. Our factory environment combines automated systems with artisan hand-finishing, creating unique packaging formats that add complexity and challenge to line design and maintenance
